  • Olympic Committee Opens Up After Boxer Leaves Fight Against Rival That Failed Gender Test

There is always going to be controversy that surrounds any sport. This also includes some sports associated with the Olympics, but the controversy has gone to an entirely new level.

Imane Khelif is a boxer who has stirred up a lot of controversy with what is behind their boxing. After a match between Imane Khelif’ and Angela Carini that only lasted 46 seconds, it heightened the controversy considerably.

Carini did not lose the match but she did quit. Since Khelief is genetically male, it has caused quite a stir and the Olympic Committee is now releasing a statement about the event.

    That statement reads:
“Every person has the right to practise sport without discrimination.

“All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations set by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU) (please find all applicable rules here). As with previous Olympic boxing competitions, the gender and age of the athletes are based on their passport.

“These rules also applied during the qualification period, including the boxing tournaments of the 2023 European Games, Asian Games, Pan American Games and Pacific Games, the ad hoc 2023 African qualifying tournament in Dakar (SEN) and two world qualifying tournaments held in Busto Arsizio (ITA) and Bangkok (THA) in 2024, which involved a total of 1,471 different boxers from 172 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the Boxing Refugee Team and Individual Neutral Athletes, and featured over 2,000 qualification bouts.

“The PBU used the Tokyo 2020 boxing rules as a baseline to develop its regulations for Paris 2024. This was to minimise the impact on athletes’ preparations and guarantee consistency between Olympic Games. These Tokyo 2020 rules were based on the post-Rio 2016 rules, which were in place before the suspension of the boxing International Federation by the IOC in 2019 and the subsequent withdrawal of its recognition in 2023.

“We have seen in reports misleading information about two female athletes competing at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The two athletes have been competing in international boxing competitions for many years in the women’s category, including the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, International Boxing Association (IBA) World Championships and IBA-sanctioned tournaments.

“These two athletes were the victims of a sudden and arbitrary decision by the IBA. Towards the end of the IBA World Championships in 2023, they were suddenly disqualified without any due process.

“According to the IBA minutes available on their website, this decision was initially taken solely by the IBA Secretary General and CEO. The IBA Board only ratified it afterwards and only subsequently requested that a procedure to follow in similar cases in the future be established and reflected in the IBA Regulations. The minutes also say that the IBA should “establish a clear procedure on gender testing”.

“The current aggression against these two athletes is based entirely on this arbitrary decision, which was taken without any proper procedure – especially considering that these athletes had been competing in top-level competition for many years.

“Such an approach is contrary to good governance. Eligibility rules should not be changed during ongoing competition, and any rule change must follow appropriate processes and should be based on scientific evidence.

“The IOC is committed to protecting the human rights of all athletes participating in the Olympic Games as per the Olympic Charter, the IOC Code of Ethics and the IOC Strategic Framework on Human Rights. The IOC is saddened by the abuse that the two athletes are currently receiving.

“The IBA’s recognition was withdrawn by the IOC in 2023 following its suspension in 2019. The withdrawal of recognition was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). See the IOC’s statement following the ruling.

“The IOC has made it clear that it needs National Boxing Federations to reach a consensus around a new International Federation in order for boxing to be included on the sports programme of the Olympic Games LA28.”
Since Khelif was disqualified from the World Championships in 2023 because of a failure to pass a gender eligibility test, it really made people wonder if they would be able to box in the Olympics. Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting was also disqualified from the World Championships.

Since the rules are different at the Olympics, both of those individuals were eligible for competition.

  • Massive Tech Company Pulls Olympic Ads Following Controversial Opening Ceremony Criticized as Anti-Christian

C Spire, the sixth-largest telecommunications and technology company in the United States, has announced its decision to withdraw all advertisements from NBC’s Olympic coverage following the controversial opening ceremony, which many believe mocked Christianity.

The opening ceremony in Paris featured a controversial rendition of the Last Supper, depicting Jesus’s final meal with his disciples before his arrest, scourging by Pontius Pilate, and crucifixion on Calvary Hill. This reenactment, inspired by Da Vinci’s famous painting, included drag queens and transgender performers arranged in the iconic formation, along with an unusual presence of young children, sparking widespread criticism for being highly inappropriate.

Additionally, the ceremony referenced the book of Revelation with a depiction of the white horseman of the apocalypse, symbolizing death, riding across water with a dramatic pyrotechnic display.

In response to these displays, C Spire pulled its advertising within 24 hours, announcing on X (formerly Twitter), “We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics.”

The decision was met with gratitude from commenters, who praised the company for upholding their values. Comments included, “Have never been more proud of a company. Thank you for representing the values of your customers,” and “THANK YOU! As a Mississippian, I already know what you stand for, and now I know what you value. Together, this is how we win. It’s us vs [them]—good vs evil. May we all continue to stand for what is right—thank you for leading the way on the corporate front. :)”

The controversial opening ceremony also drew criticism from other Christian leaders and viewers. Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester remarked, “This deeply secularist, post-modern society knows who its enemy is. They’re naming it. And we should believe them. They’re telling us who they are. We should believe them. But furthermore, we Christians, we Catholics, should not be sheepish. We should resist, we should make our voices heard.”

A group of French bishops released a statement on Saturday expressing their outrage over “scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity, which we deeply deplore,” and thanked members of other religious denominations for their solidarity. “This morning, we think of all Christians on all continents who have been hurt by the outrage and provocation of certain scenes,” the statement continued.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta also voiced his “distress and great disappointment at the insult to us Christians during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics when a group of drag artists parodied the Last Supper of Jesus” in a post on X.

  • This Is The T-Shirt The Today Show Would Not Allow Him To Wear On Air

Although viewers may not have realized it, the keyboardist for Macy Gray was forced to turn his t-shirt inside out when performing live for the Today Show. The t-shirt that the artist was wearing said “Free Britney Griner” across the chest, which the head honchos at NBC did not like. The shirt included the words in bold white letters across the front, but viewers of the Today Show simply saw the keyboardist wearing a plain black shirt because he had been asked to flip it inside out for the on-air performance.

Keyboardist Billy Wes wore the t-shirt because he wanted to show his support of Britney Griner. He appeared at the NBC studio in New York City, ready to show the world the bold message on his t-shirt. However, the people in charge of the Today Show refused to let him wear the t-shirt on the program, asking him to turn it inside out instead.

Wes told TMZ that the people in charge of the show “said I couldn’t wear it” on the air. It’s not exactly clear what person told Wes not to wear the shirt; however, it is clear that this person was an authority figure on the Today Show.

In response to the incident, both Wes and Gray have not indicated the exact reason why he was not allowed to wear the t-shirt on the program. However, Macy Gray said, “I don’t think it’s political.”

“It’s a human being that’s in a really horrible situation, and there are people that have the power to do something about it, and that’s what they should do,” Macy Gray added.

Wes wore the t-shirt on the same day Britney Griner pleaded guilty to drug charges while in Russia. She now faces up to ten years in a tough Russian prison because of the offense. Griner, who is a star of the WNBA, has been held in Russian custody since February. Now, people like Wes are trying to put pressure on the Biden Administration to secure her release back to the United States, which is her home country.

Griner pleaded guilty in court on Thursday. It was the second day of her trial.

“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” Griner said in English, which was translated to Russian for the court.

Griner was caught carrying two vape cartridges containing cannabis oil while traveling through the Moscow airport. Russian authorities have held her in custody since they caught her with marijuana, which has been decriminalized in many states across the United States. Russia, however, continues to crack down hard on people who use marijuana.

On Wednesday, President Biden called Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, and claimed that he was doing what he could to secure the WBNA player’s release from a Russian prison. Biden had received a letter from Griner in which she expressed her worry that Russian authorities might never let her return home.

Unfortunately, Vladimir Putin might not want to cooperate to help release the player.

  • BREAKING: Kamala Harris Withdraws from Debate After Trump Confirms Date

Vice President Kamala Harris has declined to debate former President Donald Trump after he agreed to a September 4 debate hosted by Fox News. Instead, Harris is pushing for a September 10 debate hosted by ABC News, a date previously agreed upon by President Biden, who has since exited the race.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to, running straight to Fox News to bail him out. He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he committed to on September 10,” Harris Campaign communications director Michael Tyler stated on Saturday.

“The Vice President will be there one way or another to take the opportunity to speak to a prime-time national audience. We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. ‘Anytime, anywhere, anyplace’ should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

In a Truth Social post released Friday evening, Trump responded to claims that he is avoiding a debate with Harris by agreeing to a debate. The Harris Campaign had been claiming that Trump was afraid to debate and was looking for a way out over the last several days.

“I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” the former president wrote. “The debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated since Biden will no longer be a participant. I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Stephanopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”

Trump is currently suing ABC’s George Stephanopoulos for defamation over false statements he made regarding the E. Jean Carroll case.

“The Fox News debate will be held in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a site in an area to be determined,” Trump continued. “The moderators of the debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and the rules will be similar to the rules of my debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been treated horribly by his party — BUT WITH A FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!”

Trump’s proposal features one notable difference from his June debate with President Biden, which was not conducted in front of a live audience. The former president added that his proposal would follow the same procedures as June’s CNN debate, which included a feature that muted each candidate’s microphone when the other was speaking.

The Republican nominee had previously indicated that he would not debate Harris until she had officially secured the nomination, pointing to the Democratic Party’s unprecedented move to oust President Biden last month.

As of Friday, Harris has officially secured the nomination after party delegates approved it in a backroom “roll call.”

  • Madonna, 65, Enjoys A Night Out In The West End As Leather-Clad Pop Veteran Watches

Although Madonna is not your typical 65-year-old, most 65-year-olds wouldn’t be found out on the town attending a play in London’s West End that features explicit scenes.

Seated in her own box at the Noël Coward Theatre on Saturday night, the American singer saw a play that has been called one of the’most startling’ to ever grace a London stage.

The X-rated drama Slave Play, which debuted earlier this month, has drawn criticism for how it depicts mixed-race relationships, how frequently it uses racial slurs, and how graphically it depicts s****l activity, including a 10-minute nude sex scene with Kit Harington of Game of Thrones.

The set features a wall of mirrors that let spectators in from all directions to get a clear picture of the activity taking place on stage.

However, in order to prevent leaks and preserve the actor’s modesty, theater owners have been forced to impose stickers that restrict cameras on cell phones.

More than just the inflammatory content is what has sparked the outcry.

Playwright Jeremy O’Harris, slated to host two nights ‘free from the white gaze’ for black audience members, was denounced as ‘wrong and divisive’ by then-prime minister Rishi Sunak in February.

Even though it received mixed reviews, Madonna is obviously a fan because she went backstage after the show to praise Olivia Whasington and Harington for their raucous performances.

The pop singer, who has already witnessed the entire frontal male n*****y of Slave Play, is infatuated.

In 2018, she attended an off-Broadway show in New York.

Madonna, who has a history of displaying her body on Instagram, is presently residing in her £10 million London Georgian home in Marylebone.

She is reportedly in the UK working on a biography about her life.

Julia Garner is speculated to play the Like a Virgin hitmaker, and the project is associated with the British writer Dan Cadan, with whom she has previously worked.

The singer used a £3000 Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 Bandoulière purse as she posed splayed out on the back seat of a 1968 Jaguar while she was in London.

Actor Laurence Fishburne from The Matrix, actress Zendaya from Dune, actress Anna Taylor-Joy from The Queen’s Gambit, and heartstopper Kit Connor are among the other celebrities who have seen the contentious Slave Play since its premiere.

  • My Daughter Told Me To “Stop Playing Bride” And Take Off The Wedding Dress

The scent of lavender and sunshine hung heavy in the air as I nervously fiddled with the silver locket around my neck. Peter, his eyes crinkling at the corners with a smile, held my hand, the warmth a stark contrast to the chill of the nursing home hallway.

“Evelyn, are you ready?” he asked, his voice a comforting rumble….

At 75, I never thought I’d find love again, let alone stand here, my heart pounding like a hummingbird’s wings, about to accept Peter’s proposal.

My life had been a tapestry woven with loneliness, a failed marriage that dissolved into resentment, and a daughter, Sarah, who, consumed by her own life, drifted further and further away.

Peter, a retired history professor with a twinkle in his eye and stories that stretched back decades, had become my beacon in the monotonous routine of the nursing home.

He’d been my chess partner, my confidant, and the hand I reached for during those endless bingo nights. His proposal, a simple diamond ring nestled in a velvet box, was the most precious gift anyone had ever given me.

“Yes, Peter,” I whispered, a tear slipping down my cheek. His gentle thumb brushed it away, his touch sending shivers down my spine. We were old, yes, but love didn’t have an expiry date, and in Peter’s eyes, I saw not wrinkles but a reflection of the woman I used to be.

The following days were a whirlwind of shared laughter and secret planning. We discussed a small, intimate ceremony in the nursing home’s garden. Peter painstakingly researched poems of love and commitment, his voice raspy with emotion as he practiced them under his breath.

The staff, initially surprised, got swept up in our joy. Mrs. Peabody, the usually grumpy resident down the hall, even volunteered to help with decorations. There was a palpable shift in the air, a renewed sense of purpose that transcended bingo nights and lukewarm meals.

The phone call to Sarah, however, became a storm cloud on my horizon. Her voice, sharp and laced with disapproval, echoed in my ear, replaying every cruel word. “Pathetic,” she’d called it. “Dress-up.” Shame burned in my throat, choking back the retort that threatened to spill out. I ended the call, feeling a hollow ache where excitement had once resided.

Peter, sensing my distress, held me close. “Evelyn,” he murmured, “your daughter doesn’t understand. It’s okay. This is about us.” His words were a balm, but a sliver of doubt remained. Was I truly being childish? Was this, as Sarah had said, a silly charade?

The day of the ceremony dawned bright and crisp. The nursing home staff had transformed the garden into a haven, with flower arrangements in mismatched vases and white chairs arranged in a small circle. Peter, dapper in a borrowed suit, looked like a dream come true. His gaze softened as I walked down the makeshift aisle, my flower girl, a mischievous young resident named Lily, scattering petals at my feet.

The ceremony was short but heartfelt. As Peter slipped the ring onto my finger, a wave of emotions washed over me – relief, joy, and a deep, bittersweet pang at Sarah’s absence. With trembling hands, I reached for Peter’s hand, vowing to cherish him in sickness and in health, ’til death do us part.

The afternoon flew by in a blur of laughter, cake, and impromptu dancing. Even Mrs. Peabody, a notoriously picky eater, devoured an extra slice of cake. As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the garden, I looked around at the smiling faces. In that moment, I felt a completeness I hadn’t known in years. This wasn’t pathetic. This was love, pure and unadulterated, a testament to the fact that life could bloom anew, even in the twilight years.

Later that evening, Peter helped me back to my room. Just as I was about to settle in, a knock startled me. Sarah stood at the door, her face a mask of conflicting emotions. “Mom?” she said hesitantly.

My heart clenched. “Sarah,” I croaked.

She stepped inside, her eyes flitting between the happy faces on display photos on my bedside table and the simple wedding band on my finger. “I…” she began, her voice tight. “I saw the pictures online.”

A social media-savvy nurse had uploaded photos of the ceremony. “It looked… nice,” Sarah finished lamely.

“Nice?” I echoed, hurt flashing in my chest. “You called it pathetic.”

Silence stretched between us, thick and heavy. Finally, Sarah sighed. “Mom,” she started, tears welling in her eyes, “I was wrong. So wrong. Seeing those pictures, seeing you so happy – it made me realize what a fool I’ve been…”

Tears streamed down Sarah’s face, her carefully constructed facade crumbling. My anger subsided, replaced by a wave of sadness. “Sarah, come here,” I said, patting the spot on the bed beside me.

She hesitated, then crawled in, burying her face in my shoulder. My thin nightgown was damp with her tears. “Mom,” she whispered, “I’m so ashamed of how I treated you. All this time, you were just trying to find some happiness, and I was…”

“Scared,” I finished for her, squeezing her hand. “Scared of letting me be happy. Scared that maybe it would mean you were fine without me.”

    For illustration purposes only

The truth, harsh but undeniable, hung in the air. She’d been so consumed with her own life, the pressures of work and raising a family, that she’d built a wall between us. But seeing me, a woman pushing 80, finding a love that defied expectations, had shattered that wall, revealing the emptiness within.

“I’m happy for you, Mom,” Sarah continued, her voice muffled. “Truly. But… what about Dad? How would he feel?”

The question hung heavy. My ex-husband, a man Sarah held on a pedestal despite his shortcomings, had been a ghost in our conversations for years. “He wouldn’t care, Sarah,” I said finally, the words tinged with a bitterness I hadn’t realized lingered. “He always checked out years ago.”

There was a long silence. “I… I need to go,” Sarah said, pulling away. “But, Mom, can I come visit more? Can I be a part of this…?”

A hesitant smile tugged at my lips. “We’d love that, honey. We both would.”

The next few weeks were a whirlwind of change. Sarah visited more often, bringing her children, two rambunctious toddlers who filled the sterile nursing home hallways with shrieks of laughter. Peter, a natural with children, played pirates and tea party with them, his eyes twinkling with an energy I hadn’t seen before. Sarah, initially awkward, gradually relaxed, laughing along with them.

One afternoon, while the children were napping, Sarah and I sat in the garden. “Mom,” she started, “I know I messed up. But seeing you happy – seeing Peter happy – it makes me want to fix things with Dad. Maybe… maybe we could try couples’ therapy?”

I looked at her, surprised. Therapy had never been an option during their marriage. It had always been about “toughing it out” for the sake of appearances. “Are you sure, honey?”

    For illustration purposes only

“I’m tired of being tired,” she said, a new resolve in her voice. “Maybe it’s time we tried to understand each other, even if it doesn’t work out.”

A flicker of hope ignited in my chest. Maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t too late for my daughter to find her own happily ever after. As I watched her play with the children later that day, a quiet sense of peace settled over me.

Love, it seemed, wasn’t a finite resource. It could bloom in unexpected places, weaving a tapestry of connection across generations, mending broken threads and offering a chance at redemption, even in the twilight of our lives.

  • HT1. How do you attract and get older women?

For most older women, your youth is a plus. Some things you may have to work on are these:

Be interesting! If there’s too much of a cultural gap, such as different music, films, hobbies or just life experience, try to catch up with them somewhat. Find out what things interest them and learn more, so your conversation is intriguing. Listen to some classical music and jazz, so you can invite them to a concert. If the woman is young-at-heart, however, feel free to ask her to a rock concert.
Be well-groomed. Older women generally don’t want weird clothing on a guy or strange beards and hairstyles. They want someone classy and elegant. Maybe invest in a good suit and some good casual wear. If she runs into friend with you, she will want to feel proud to be with you!
Good manners! Learn how to greet a lady. Don’t be afraid to flirt but don’t be gross or say things that are overtly sexual. Definitely don’t grab! Also, at the table, eat with your mouth closed, don’t belch or slurp.
Be considerate. Offer to drive her home or walk her there if possible. Open a door for her! Women may say they don’t like it but…they usually do. On the first date, don’t kiss her lips unless she goes for it. Compliment her clothes, hair and looks in general. LISTEN to her.
If you do go to bed, make sure to ask about birth control. Older women aren’t as embarrassed about this as younger ones. You should always have condoms! Even if she is on the Pill—remember to use safe sex. Don’t rush things, like suddenly diving on the bed and saying “Let’s go!” If she wants to take a bath first with you, try it! Younger guys also “finish” fast, so take your time and enjoy it. If she doesn’t finish, then make sure she does, even if you aren’t “up” to it.
When the night is over, don’t just leave (unless she says to). Cuddle, if she’s into it. If she’s at your house, offer to give her a drink or something to eat. If its’ an overnight, make her breakfast—few things impress a woman more than a man who can cook! At the very least, let her know how much fun you had and if you want to see her again, say so.
By all means, call her afterward. Don’t text! What the heck…send some flowers if you can!

  • Major Retail Chain Closes All 540 Mall Locations

Rue21, the beloved teen fashion retailer known for its trendy styles, has made a momentous decision to close all 543 of its stores across the United States, marking the end of an era in the retail industry. After four decades of captivating young shoppers with its chic offerings, Rue21 will soon bid farewell.

The closure process, expected to span four to six weeks, promises a massive clearance event that will attract throngs of bargain hunters eager to seize pieces of Rue21’s history at deeply discounted prices. Starting with discounts of 20 percent, prices are anticipated to plummet to as low as 90 percent, making this a not-to-be-missed opportunity for both loyal patrons and casual observers alike.

Despite efforts to salvage the retailer, legal proceedings revealed that the bids received were insufficient to sustain Rue21’s financial viability, leading to the difficult choice to close all locations. The void left by Rue21’s departure will be particularly felt in states like Texas, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina, where the brand has thrived among fashion-forward shoppers.

The closure affects nearly 5,000 dedicated employees, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by traditional retail amidst the dominance of e-commerce giants like Shein, compounded by the impacts of the global health crisis. Rue21’s closure joins a lamentable roster of retail casualties, underscoring the rapid transformations reshaping consumer preferences and industry dynamics.

As we bid farewell to Rue21 and its vibrant legacy, we reflect on the fleeting nature of fashion retail and the enduring struggles of venerable brands navigating an increasingly competitive landscape.

  • Another Celeb Announces She Is Leaving The Country

After her circus of a legal case against actor Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has been staying in Spain decompressing. And it appears that Heard has found a safe place to live outside of the confines of the United States of America. Heard is currently located in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, with her one-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige Heard. Heard and her daughter are currently staying with Hollywood writer, producer, and cinematographer Bianca Butti who also likes living in Spain, far away from the confines of the United States of America.

After Depp won the defamation lawsuit several months ago, he has been all over the world. Heard, meanwhile, has been staying in isolation with her friend in Spain. She has remained out of the public eye since the trial as she tries to focus on her daughter and living life outside of Depp’s heavy hand of influence.

Currently, Heard is in a bit of a financial bind. As a result of the verdict, which went in favor of Depp, Heard is supposed to pay $8.3 million. However, she is currently appealing the case and hopes to have the amount of money she might owe significantly reduced or altogether removed from the verdict.

Heard might not have much hope of avoiding the $8.3 million penalty for losing the defamation lawsuit against Johnny Depp. One judge has already denied her appeal request. Heard had put in a request to rule the trial a mistrial and do the proceedings over again in front of a televised audience like it was the first time.

Heard filed the motion to appeal on July 1, 2022. In the appeal request, Heard’s legal team claimed that there were discrepancies in the jury. They argued that the people summoned to work on the jury and the people who actually served on the trial had enough discrepancies to overturn the current verdict, which goes against Heard.

As Heard licks her wounds in Spain, she does not appear to have much going on. Instead, she is just enjoying her time in the country that borders the Mediterranean Sea and spending time with her baby daughter, Oonagh Paige Heard. She is also having lots of fun with her friend, Butti, who has a few credits to her name as a director of various films and flicks.

Heard’s most recent Hollywood appearances were in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and In the Fire, which has finished filming and is in the process of post-production.

Meanwhile, her ex-husband Johnny Depp continues to have lots of success in Hollywood. He is scheduled to star in a new Netflix film La Favorite.

He is also working on a new Pirates of the Caribbean film. And he is set to appear in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts 3 film. So, it seems like both Heard and Depp are doing just fine without each other. However, Depp appears to be on a winning streak following his victory in court.

  • Men laugh at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier memorial, until camera catches soldier setting them straight

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a place most people come to lament in silent reflection. Many who venture there are grasped by a visceral feeling of something larger than themselves. In short, it’s one of those monuments that truly speaks to those around it. Needless to say, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier should – and usually is – treated with the utmost respect.

After all, it serves to remind us of all those who have fought and died without their remains being identified. Which is why people who don’t respect the sanctity of the place really do stand out.

The group in this particular article happened to be laughing in the crowd close to the tomb. It didn’t take long for a soldier to set things straight …

In the video that captured the incident, the soldier guarding the tomb can be seen patrolling the area in front of it.

Naturally, a crowd gathered to pay their respects, and it’s from this crowd – situated behind the camera – that laughter can be heard ringing out from a group.

The soldier, taking control of the situation without hesitation, turns and faces the crowd, before calling out those failing to be silent on such hallowed ground.

Using a typical military tone, he lets them know in no uncertain terms that they’re expected to show the proper respect.

Needless to say, his message was received loud and clear!

At such a place it’s always important to be mindful of where you are and what it stands for. It doesn’t take much to give others the peace of mind they’re seeking by simply remaining quiet, and of course we should always show respect to those who laid down their very lives for the freedoms and liberties we retain today.
If you agree that the soldier was in the right for reprimanding the people in the crowd, share this article on Facebook.
